This is the stop that saves the trip. A US airline may require the DOT Service Animal Air Transportation Form, and it may ask for it as early as 48 hours before departure. The form is a free attestation that your dog is trained, healthy, vaccinated and will behave. For a flight scheduled to last eight hours or more, the carrier may also ask you to attest that the dog will not need to relieve itself or can do so in a way that does not create a health or sanitation issue.
